Windows will not let me download Yahoo toolbar, also blocking flash player download?

Posted by admin on January 31st, 2010 and filed under download toolbar | 2 Comments »

I somehow lost my yahoo toolbar and don’t know how to get it back as Windows block the installation process. Can somebody please tell me in detail how to get it reinstalled.

You have to address the real issue. You don’t have the appropriate privileges to install Active-X components on your computer. That’s why you can’t install Flash or any toolbar. Your user account under XP needs to be an administator or you need to logon to an account that is an administrator. Check with the person who setup your computer. Under Vista it is basically the same thing. If you are unsure about having the Yahoo toolbar for Internet Explorer, then look in add or remove programs (programs and features under Vista). If it shows, then right click IE tools button (or an open area around the toolbar) and on the list of toolbars click Yahoo toolbar.

Is it possible to add the Yahoo toolbar to the Yahoo browser so I can create custom icons as in IE?

I used the Yahoo toolbar on IE a lot and have recently installed the Yahoo browser so that I can use their parental controls feature but now I can’t figure out how to add the Yahoo toolbar to that browser.

The best solution for me would be to get the parental controls to work using IE, but the above would work, too.

The Yahoo! toolbar is currently supported for the Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox browsers. You might look into the Windows Live products. There is a parental control feature that is an extension beyond that of Internet Explorer. I experimented with it briefly and I know it works for Internet Explorer and Firefox and maybe all browsers (not sure).

Why can’t I delete my Google toolbar search history?

Posted by admin on January 31st, 2010 and filed under search toolbar | 1 Comment »

I know how to do it under tools > internet options > delete browsing history > delete form data. It’s not working. Also, when I click the drop down menu in my Google toolbar, there is no Clear History to click on like usual. I even uninstalled Google Chrome, and uninstalled the google toolbar. When I reinstalled the toolbar, my search history was still there.

I’m using Windows 7 with internet explorer 8.

i had the same problem.
try this

type one letter in the search button then you’ll see a ‘clear history’ at the bottom. press that!

Keyboard problems, System Restore won’t work, & dear daughter DL’d Inbox.com w/ a free toolbar, now what?

Posted by admin on January 31st, 2010 and filed under free toolbar | 1 Comment »

THis USED to be the fastest computer in the house.:::sigh:::

Dear daughter of 12 naively downloaded Inbox.com & accompanying programs such as a toolbar, free smilies, and like 3 other things it came with. Well, I uninstalled all of them but in the ADD/REMOVE Programs there was nothing to uninstall this "inbox.com." However, it is now our homepage instead of AOL. (grr)

I was okay with this for now, til I could figure out how to remove it, but then today. Daughter was back on her fav website, said she just hit the Enter key to message her friend when everything went screwy. The IE8 window bars at the top & bottom disappeared (as in a full screen view) then she attempted to use the keyboard to write her friend, and that did not respond properly. So she quietly left the computer for me to discover that whenever I tried clicking on an icon on the Desktop, it would simply go to the Properties of it instead of opening the program. I thought at first, a busted shortcut, but it happened to every one I tried. I logged that User off, and got on the other and while the programs did open in that instance, the keyboard was not responding right. I’d press the G key to type in Google (i had IE8 open at least) but it would just beep/thud (like a dead option), then the other alphabet keys would highlight options on the menu bar when pressed, or if the web address in the address bar was highlighted, it would not delete when I pressed the Delete key!

So I tried System Restore, yet as I could open the window to chose between the tick options, I was unable to get any response by clicking the Start or Cancel buttons or anything in that SysRestore Window!

Tried booting in Safe Mode, w/ F1 and F8, tapping repeatedly while it restarted, yet it won’t go into it and I guess this might be because of the keyboard being messed up.

I am so blaming this on the programs she downloaded and now I can’t seem to roll it back. So in the interest of saving time, I was hoping if anyone knew anything or any of this sounds familiar to you, etc…perhaps you could help me out here at Yahoo instead of me canvassing the entire web researching this and the umpteen hours that could entail.

As I am the only computer geek in the house, any fellow geekers out there are completely welcome to give advice. Except refrain from the tips on letting your kids dL things they shouldn’t, because we’ve already had the "talk" and we’ve all downloaded things we’ve regretted. :) That’s for sure. Thanks so much!

About the only thing I notice you haven’t tried is anti-malware scans. And I’m sure you have some: That System Restore lockout isn’t accidental.

So D/L some decent stuff, Ad-Aware Free, Spybot S&D, etc., and run it in Safe Mode with Networking.

Good luck. And don’t kill her.

How do I put my windows 7 home toolbar back to the bottom?

I am using windows 7 64 bit and on the main screen, it has the regular toolbar. Well, I screwed it up and now the toolbar is on the top. How do I put it back down on the bottom?

Right click the taskbar on an empty portion, make sure the ‘lock the taskbar’ box is unchecked, drag to your desired location. Relock the taskbar when it is in your preferred location.

How do I get the toolbar back on Internet Explorer?

Posted by admin on January 31st, 2010 and filed under internet toolbar | 1 Comment »

I was typing something recently and my toolbar on the top and bottom of my internet explorer dissapeared. They come back breifly if I hover my mouse over them but don’t stay there permenantly. I’ve tried right-clicking and clicking Lock Toolbar and Menu Bar and stuff but they don’t work. What do I do?

It’s stuck on full screen.

Hover over the top part again to open the dialog box "View" then select "full screen"

Or simply press the F11 key on your keyboard :) et voila.

How do you get your toolbars while using Google Chrome?

Posted by admin on January 31st, 2010 and filed under toolbars | 2 Comments »

All I have is the address bar and I can find no way to get my bookmarks tab, the tab with the options to pull up your toolbars or anything. Just the address bar.
And how do I get to where I can view history and control my popup blocker and stuff? I play games that require the screen popping up and I haven’t been able to play them because the blocker won’t let me.

Open Chrome, in a blank tab, you can see a bar below the address bar, with text "For quick access, place your …". Right click on that bar and choose "Always show bookmark bar"

How do I get the Google toolbar to show up on my screen?

Posted by admin on January 31st, 2010 and filed under google toolbar | 2 Comments »

There is a little google toolbar showing in the upper right hand part of my screen, but the actual toolbar is not across my screen with the rest of my toolbars.

after you install the tool bar..go to view>>too, bars>>google toolbar if it is checked it will appear on he screen….

if it appear small on the screen then close other tool bars.
