How do I fix my yahoo search bar on my browser toolbar?
I use the the current version of Firefox and the Yahoo! toolbar. i has always worked for me before but now whenever i use it to search something, the results are always for "Editbox)" i did not install or change anything to any of my programs at the time this happened. I’ve tried restarting and reinstalling the toolbar but it did not work. Please, if you can give me a hand i would be grateful. thank you.
You have basically 3 areas to do your searches with Firefox, the address bar, the search bar to the right of the address bar and the Yahoo web search box. Try putting the word rabbit in the address bar (it should use Google), then the search bar (set it first via the down arrow to use a different search engine), and then in the Yahoo search bar (it should use Yahoo). If you are not getting the correct search engine, then Firefox may have been compromised. Try clicking Tools and then add-ons. Normally you should see Talkback and Yahoo Toolbar. Maybe you have the All Text Add-on which talks about an Edit Box:
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/4125
In any event, if you see other add-ons, you might try removing them. Otherwise try running an anti-spyware program. Maybe Lavasoft Ad-aware 2007 (free version and it now supports Vista).
