WOW!! That was so …
WOW!! That was so sad to me! The people who felt like they knew the least, were the closest to the right answers. The people who were confident in their answers were completely WRONG! Smh. Sadness.

Sadly, most of …
Sadly, most of these people who don’t know what a browser is probably use the internet almost daily. This is why shitty, over-priced software prevails on the market. People just don’t know any better and will accept anything put in front of them by the distribution company they buy their computers from. Google’s made some good moves so far with the chrome and android projects so far… but I fear they’re going to end up turning into another Verizon or Microsoft all too soon.

Probably more like …
Probably more like a GPS, where the results are waypoints. When you click a link, your browser (car) goes (drives) to the website (a place on the information highway).

My God, you don’t …
My God, you don’t understand!!! The thing is that they “don’t” need to know what a Browser is, that’s Latinos and Indian people business!!! It’s like fix a chair with a simple screw, why know? that’s why Mexican exists….

Hmm, let’s see… …
Hmm, let’s see… The difference between a search engine and a browser… Oh, I have it! A search engine is two browsers! (And before you start arguing, I am of course right:
A browser is an AGENT (-er) that performs the ACTION of browsing, i.e. searching through some information without necessarily interacting with it. That seems to me like a good definition of a web crawler (source of information>search engine database) and the second is searching within the database and outputs the results.

Here is a good …
Here is a good analogy:
Internet -> roads
Browser -> means of transportation, ie: car, truck, bicycle…etc.
How can you drive to the store if you DON’T KNOW WHAT A CAR IS!!!
ps. Google HAS A browser, but IS NOT a browser!!!

This has nothing to …
This has nothing to do with Americans … most of the non-geek people in the world couldn’t tell you what a browser is, or the difference between a search engine and a browser.
For most people, going online means the same as just starting the Internet Explorer.
They don’t really know anything about the internet – and honestly, why should they?
February 24th, 2010 at 3:01 am
